ASM Chartered Accountants 

ASM Chartered Accountants was formed in 1995.

Today, we operate from offices in Belfast, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Newry and Dundalk. We have a staff complement of 150 and provide compliance and specialist services in the areas of Accounting, Audit, Tax, Corporate Finance, Public and Private Sector Consulting, Forensic Accounting, Internal Audit, Litigation Support, Insolvency and Hotel, Tourism and Leisure Consulting.

As the firm expanded in the early years and our service range developed to include the public sector, it was crucial to our strategy for growth that we registered with the Government Purchasing Agency (the forerunner to Central Procurement Directorate) to ensure that we were exposed to as many tender opportunities as necessary.

We became aware of the procurement process through engagement with public sector stakeholders, and the more general marketing activities of the Government Purchasing Agency in advance of it issuing new 'frameworks'.

Successful tendering

Since the year 2000 we have been successfully bidding for assignments across a range of disciplines via CPD.

There is no secret to successful bidding, it is a question of understanding the requirements of each bid opportunity and crafting the bid document so that it is succinct and direct in terms of how we can deliver the services required, supported by our relevant experience.

Always seek feedback!

Understanding why we did not win bids is as important as understanding why we did win and in this context, we always seek feedback from CPD. This enables us to constantly review and refine our approach to preparing proposals, and this has been a key part of our ongoing success.

Internally, we constantly seek new ways to present our bids so that they look fresh, are unambiguous and are easy to read and digest.

Meet the buyers!

When we first decided to bid for public sector work, there is no doubt that it was a daunting prospect, but attending tender preparation and Meet the Buyer workshops gave us the confidence to take the first steps, and ongoing feedback from CPD staff allows us to continually refine our approach.

There is no reason why smaller businesses cannot compete successfully for public sector opportunities. We are proof that it can open new opportunities and lead to long term growth!
