NICS COVID-19 sick absence policies and procedures have changed.
Colleagues who have symptoms of a respiratory infection including COVID-19 should work from home where they can do so. Where colleagues are unable to work from home, they should contact their line manager to discuss options. If a member of staff is too unwell to work remotely or where work cannot be undertaken safely, the absence should be recoded as a sickness absence under the main symptom and it will be managed under the usual sickness absence policies. Special leave will no longer be applicable.
