The LGBT Staff Network, aims to play a major role in helping those who may sometimes feel marginalised. Earlier this year, the NICS LGBT Staff Network launched its new intranet page which aims to provide LGBT+ staff, allies and indeed any member of staff who might find it useful, with information on LGBT issues and sources of support.
The launch of the intranet page coincided with the Network’s first AGM, at which the first formal Executive Committee was appointed and an agreed Terms of Reference and Annual Business Plan for 2020/21 were adopted (copies of which are now posted on the intranet page).
Just as the new Committee was putting together its first programme of events to move the Network forward and to help it grow, as well as to nurture LGBT+ colleagues in the workplace and to influence and shape NICS policy to contribute to a diverse and inclusive NICS, we all found ourselves in Covid-19 lockdown.
The impact of lockdown has caused us to rethink our business plan and we are now hoping to move our programme online. This was successful for the programme of events for LGBT Awareness Week and Mental Health Awareness Week (which have taken place over the last couple of weeks) so we are confident that we can also bring you some exciting and helpful online content in the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime, please stay safe and explore the intranet page. We are in the process of adding new material and hope we will soon have some virtual events for LGBT staff, their families and allies to get involved in.
