Guidance on equality of opportunity and sustainable development in public sector procurement

This guide has been prepared by the Equality Commission and Construction & Procurement Delivery (CPD) to support public authorities as they embed equality of opportunity, including good relations, and sustainable development in their procurement practice.

This guidance will assist policy and decision makers, and those who determine our public services as well as people who work directly in procurement, project management and equality of opportunity and sustainable development.

This guidance sets out what is expected of all those involved in public sector procurements, whether large or small, and is supported by the law.

Dear Accounting Officer Letter (DAO 05/08)

The main guidance, supported by a summary document, gives an overview of the main points for consideration and is accompanied by a Dear Accounting Officer (DAO 05/08) letter which advises recipients that the guidance should be taken into account when preparing business cases.
