Policy Screening - NICS Recruitment Policy and Procedures Manual

Date published: 05 October 2016

This revision to policy covers the adoption of the OFMDFM issued Employers Guidance on Recruiting People with Conflict-Related Convictions into NICS Recruitment Policy and Procedures.

Details

This policy revision is to ensure that the NICS implements the Employers Guidance on Recruiting People with Conflict-Related Convictions into recruitment policy and procedures. When making decisions on suitability for employment in the NICS, officials will not take into account any conviction for a conflict-related offence that pre-dates the Good Friday Agreement (GFA) in April 1998 unless it is materially relevant to the employment being sought. If a satisfactory outcome cannot be reached in relation to an application for employment in the NICS under the terms of this guidance, then the matter can be referred to a review panel.
