The key objective of this policy revision is to outline a process which may be used when recruiting or appointing to the position of Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service. The key change is that the First Minister and deputy First Minister may choose to take an active role in the selection process. This acknowledges the need for the post holder to have a very close working relationship with both Ministers in the unique environment of the Executive Office. There will be a two stage interview process. The first stage interview panel will determine if candidates have met the standard to progress to the second stage interview with the First Minister and deputy First Minister, who will make the final selection decision.
