Dunbia is a multinational company based in Dungannon, County Tyrone, specialising in the production of beef, pork and lamb products.

The Minister said: “This award is a fitting recognition of Jack Dobson’s phenomenal success as an entrepreneur and an innovator. No one could fail to be impressed with how the company has grown and developed, under Jack’s strategic leadership, from a small family business in Dungannon to a multinational organisation with an annual turnover of nearly £1billion.

“Time and time again, we have seen evidence of Jack Dobson researching, innovating and investing to increase performance and profitability and growing Dunbia to be a company that contributes significantly to the Northern Ireland economy.

“Earlier this year I announced 209 new jobs for Dunbia Northern Ireland’s Dungannon operation. The £27million investment by the company, supported by £2million of support from Invest Northern Ireland, will further boost productivity and support export growth.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to Jack and the wider Dunbia team on this magnificent and richly deserved achievement.”

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards is a global programme covering fifty countries in six continents. The Ireland awards include three categories: Emerging; Industry and International.

Other Northern Ireland finalists this year were: Alan Clarke, STATSports; Catherine O’Neill, Amelio Group; Terry Knox, CD Group; and Alyson Hogg, Vita Liberata.

Arlene Foster congratulated the finalists, saying: “The vision and ambition of all the entrepreneurs is making a hugely positive contribution to Northern Ireland. These awards provide recognition to all the finalists for successfully growing their business and I wish them every success for the future.”
