O’Dowd –Consumers must be protected after Storm Éowyn
Date published:
Finance Minister John O’Dowd has met with Association of British Insurers to discuss the insurance industry response to Storm Éowyn.

Speaking after the meeting Minister O’Dowd said: “Insurance companies must support and protect consumers in the wake of the unprecedented impact of Storm Éowyn.
“The storm caused widespread disruption to households and businesses and the insurance industry must back customers through providing advice, emergency assistance and paying claims.
“Given the exceptional challenges a collective effort is required, particularly from the insurance industry, to help people to assess damages and to provide funding for vital repairs.
“Consumers must not be left to meet the long-term costs of Storm Éowyn through higher insurance premiums. Insurance premiums are a significant expense, and I am committed to working with the industry to ensure all consumers are supported and protected.”
