  • Briefing on Northern Ireland Budgetary Outlook 2018-20

    Date published: 16 August 2018

The Department of Finance has published a briefing paper on the broad strategic issues that will help inform decisions on a budget for 2018-19 and 2019-20 (and 2020-21 for Capital). This year, in the absence of Ministers, the Department of Finance has taken the unusual step of publishing information about the major issues which will need to be addressed before a budget can be agreed.

The budget briefing document sets out a number of scenarios. The scenarios are not proposed budget settlements and no decisions have yet been taken. Their purpose is to illustrate the kinds of choices that will need to be considered by Ministers in reaching agreement on a budget.
