Since the introduction of the new single tier State Pension on 6 April 2016 public service pension schemes have had responsibility for applying the annual cost of living indexation of GMP entitlements for their scheme members who reach State Pension Age on or after that date. The making of this direction ensures that public service pensioners who reach State Pension Age on or after 6 April 2016 will have their GMP entitlements uprated by their scheme as appropriate and are not disadvantaged.
