    The Building (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024, came into effect on 6th May 2025, introducing new and amended regulations in Part E (Fire safety) of the Building Regulations and an amendment to Regulation 8 ‘Application to material change of use’ in Part A (Interpretation and general) of the Building Regulations. Amendments Booklet (AMD9) introduced changes to the supporting guidance in Technical Booklet E (Fire safety) (TBE).

     

    The Department of Finance held webinars for stakeholders on 16 and 23 January 2025 to explain the amendments, which have since come into effect on 6 May 2025. This document provides a list of Frequently Asked Questions from webinar attendees and responses from the Department.
