How to request a reference from a contracting authority

Date published: 01 February 2019

References are important for suppliers, especially for SME suppliers seeking to grow their businesses.

Often a successful contract with the public sector is a valuable potential reference for a small firm, and if the client refuses to provide references this can act as a barrier to the growth for business, having a negative impact on the marketplace and the overall economy.

CPD has agreed with the construction Centres of Procurement Expertise that government construction clients will provide references for construction suppliers, when requested to do so.

References for construction works or services contracts will be provided by government construction clients using the template provided.
