Policy screening – Amendments to Building (Prescribed Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997

This equality screening document relates to amendments to the Regulations and a planned wider review.
The amendments will implement the following:
- A two-stage uplift in the fees set out in Schedule 1 (Fees for one or more small domestic buildings), resulting in an increase of 17.5% from 1st April 2022 and a further increase from 1st April 2023 which would result in an overall increase of 35% on current levels.
- The same two-stage uplift will apply to most of the types of activity in Schedule 2 (Fees for certain small buildings, extensions and alterations), with the exception of two categories, which will be reduced.

No policy changes or changes to working practices are envisaged and the screening assessments identify that no Section 75 groups are adversely affected.
