Report on the 2016 review of the effects of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014

The Department of Finance has undertaken a review of the effects of the provisions of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 (the Act).
The review is a requirement of section 10(9) of the Act itself:"The Department of Finance (and Personnel) must conduct a review at intervals of not less than every two years following commencement of section 10 as to how the provisions of this Act affect the persons set out in section 1 (2) and shall lay a report of the review before the Assembly on or before six months following the commencement of the review."Section 10 of the Act was commenced on 28 April 2014. The 2016 review was commenced on 27 April 2016. In accordance with section 10(9) of the Act the department laid a report of its review before the Assembly on 20 October 2016.The report sets out the approach taken by the Department of Finance in conducting the 2016 review, together with the review findings and recommendations.
