Contract Management

The UK Government Commercial College offers commercial training with a focus on managing government contracts. It offers training across four different levels which are Foundation, Beyond Foundation, Practitioner, and Expert. You can access the Foundation course directly however for the higher levels you must contact the Head of Profession to enrol.

Introduction to Internal Peer Reviews

For people who have no prior knowledge of the Internal Peer Review process and would like to become an Internal Peer Review within their Department.

Aimed at: SO and above

Introduction to the Gateway Review process

This course provides an overview of the NICS Gateway Review process for programmes and projects within the NICS and associated ALBS.

Aimed at: Anyone involved in programme or project delivery.

Project Leadership Programme (PLP)

The PLP is run by Cranfield University which is designed to enhance project leadership skills. It addresses the requirement to build excellent project leadership capacity at the level below major UK Government projects.

Major Project Leadership Academy (MPLA)

The MPLA is a top-level development program for senior project leaders run jointly by UK Government’s Infrastructure and Projects Authority and the Oxford Saïd Business School.

These development programmes are highly sought after and require sponsorship by the relevant Accounting Officer in conjunction with the NICS Head of Profession.

Orchestrating Major Projects

Orchestrating Major Projects (OMP) has been designed specifically for Director Generals who shape the major project operating environment and the role they play supporting the delivery of Government’s major projects.

Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) Masterclass

This masterclass provides an overview of the appointment process and an opportunity for new SROs to talk with, and hear lessons learned from guest speakers who are experienced SROs across the NICS and UK Government.
