Project background
People working in the NI public sector often need to travel to meetings or events for business purposes - and sometimes they need to stay overnight in hotel accommodation.
The framework agreement awarded by CPD Supplies and Services Division provides a single contractor responsible for providing a fully managed travel service for the NI public sector, including:
- all UK and international travel (air, rail, ferry, car hire, taxi)
- accommodation and hotel conferencing
- other associated services (e.g. car parking)
The new arrangement will provide savings in booking fees - for example, under the previous arrangements you were charged a separate fee to book a flight, hotel and a train; under this new model you will be charged a single fee for all three transactions (saving around 60% of the total fee paid).
The new arrangement is also estimated to save 10% on travel and hotel accommodation costs, which under previous spending levels, would equate to between £800k and £1m per year.
The new contract will also seek to further streamline payment processes, and continously improve the deals available to staff.
