Following the publication of the HM Treasury guidance, the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (Northern Ireland) made amendments to the scheme rules to allow independent employers to participate.

Contracting authorities should allow a minimum of six months from the date they contact the Civil Service Pensions to inform them of a staff transfer and the transfer taking place.

In all circumstances, it is better for contact to be made with the Civil Service Pensions as early as possible in the process, who can be contacted at cspensions@finance-ni.gov.uk

To participate in the scheme, independent employers will need to sign an admission agreement with the contracting authority and civil service pensions.
